Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik marked a significant milestone on Wednesday by inaugurating the Rs 800-crore heritage corridor project surrounding the iconic Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri. The official unveiling of the Srimandir Parikrama Prakalpa took place in the presence of Gajapati Maharaja of Puri Divyasingha Deb, along with representatives from approximately 90 temples and a multitude of devotees.

Expressing gratitude for the project, Chief Minister Patnaik attributed its realization to the divine blessings of Lord Jagannath. The Srimandir Parikrama Prakalpa encompasses various essential facilities aimed at enhancing the overall experience for pilgrims visiting the revered Jagannath Temple.

Key features of the project include designated parking areas, a new bridge, and an improved road infrastructure to facilitate smoother pilgrim movement. Additionally, the initiative encompasses the establishment of a dedicated pilgrimage center, along with essential amenities such as restrooms, cloakrooms, and toilets in the vicinity of the Jagannath temple.

The project's inauguration has brought about a festive atmosphere in the pilgrim town of Puri, adorned with vibrant flowers, colorful lights, and graffiti to commemorate the auspicious occasion. The heritage corridor project is expected to contribute significantly to the overall enhancement of the pilgrimage experience for devotees visiting the historic Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri.
