Global Giants to Drive Tamil Nadu's ₹42,000 Crore Green Hydrogen Hub.

Four global players are joining forces to advance India’s green hydrogen ambitions through a major project in South India. The initiative, spearheaded by Malaysia’s Petronas-backed Amplus Ganges Solar, Singapore’s state-run Sembcorp Industries’ Green Infra Renewable Energy, Gurugram-based Acme Green Hydrogen and Chemicals, and ReNew Energy’s subsidiary ReNew E-Fuels, aims to establish a state-of-the-art green hydrogen hub.

The hub will be located at VO Chidambaranar (VOC) Port in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The first phase of the project is set to attract an investment of ₹41,860 crore, with commissioning expected by 2028, according to sources familiar with the plans. This ambitious venture underscores Tamil Nadu’s commitment to becoming a leader in renewable energy and green industrial transformation.
