"Fadnavis: Pune–Mumbai GCC corridor to trigger new wave of industrial expansion."
Maharashtra is stepping up efforts to position itself as a preferred destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with a proposed corridor between Pune and Mumbai expected to generate large-scale employment and strengthen the State’s role as a hub for global enterprises, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said.
Speaking during an open public interview with actress Girija Oak-Godbole ahead of the Pune civic elections, Mr. Fadnavis said Pune had benefited significantly during the information technology boom but still had considerable untapped potential. “Over the next few years, GCCs will come up in a big way in Maharashtra,” he said.
The Chief Minister announced plans to develop a dedicated GCC corridor connecting Pune and Mumbai, which he said would create substantial employment opportunities and attract global companies to the State.
Mr. Fadnavis also said that the Pune Municipal Corporation’s investments in development projects are expected to rise to ₹44,000 crore in the coming years. This expenditure, he added, would be in addition to ongoing investments in Pune’s metro rail network.
