CEF Group launches ‘city forest’ project in Ghaziabad

CEF Group has unveiled a 'city forest' project in Ghaziabad as part of its 'Urban Farmer' initiative, aiming to create a lush green space within the urban landscape. The project, launched in collaboration with the Ghaziabad Development Authority and supported by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), seeks to establish a two-acre forest within two years using the Miyawaki technique, a method known for accelerating forest development.

According to a media statement, the Miyawaki technique can reduce the forest development timeline from five to two years. A key aspect of the project is the land allocation by the Ghaziabad Development Authority, ensuring the forest's optimal impact and accessibility for the local community. The support from IOCL signifies a collaborative effort toward a more sustainable urban environment.

Maninder Singh, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CEF Group, highlighted the broader implications of the project. "The city forest project embodies our collective commitment to sustainable practices and environmental well-being. Through Urban Farmer, we’re not just creating gardens; we’re building boutique forests that enrich urban landscapes and foster a deeper connection with nature," he said.

The project emphasizes biodiversity, with plans to plant 25,000 saplings of native tree species using the Miyawaki technique. This approach not only promotes rapid forest growth but also supports a wide range of flora and fauna, contributing to the ecosystem's resilience. The initiative also includes a two-year maintenance plan to ensure the city forest's sustained health and vitality.

This 'city forest' project represents a significant step toward greening urban areas and demonstrates a collaborative approach to enhancing environmental sustainability in Ghaziabad. By bringing together public and private stakeholders, the project aims to create a lasting impact on the city's landscape and inspire similar initiatives in other urban areas.
