"BRO Initiates Opening of Leh-Manali National Highway"

The Border Roads Organisation's (BRO) Project HIMANK has initiated snow clearance operations to reopen access to the Ladakh Region from the Manali side on Thursday.

Each winter, the strategically vital National Highway-03, linking Leh with Manali, encounters severe weather conditions resulting in heavy snowfall and avalanches that block the road from November until it is cleared by the Border Roads Organisation.

This situation poses considerable challenges for the residents and security forces in Ladakh, who depend on the highway for vital supplies, medical emergencies, and connectivity to the rest of the country.

A team of highly skilled engineers from 111 RCC/753 BRTF, equipped with advanced snow-clearing machinery, has been deployed for this immense task of snow clearance.

Despite facing extreme cold, gusty winds, and sub-zero temperatures in treacherous terrain at altitudes exceeding 17,000 feet, the Border Roads Organisation's team is working tirelessly to reopen the highway and promptly restore the crucial link to Ladakh.

The efforts of BRO's Snow Clearance Team will not only alleviate the hardships faced by Ladakh's residents but also enhance the operational capability of the Military Forces in the region, showcasing BRO's steadfast commitment to nation-building.
