ADB to support for India's 12th Five Year Plan

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and government of India have agreed to a new country partnership strategy for 2013-2017 to support the India's 12th Five Year Plan. The strategy comes with a financial package of about US$10 billion, making India ADB’s single biggest customer, representing one fifth of its total operations.


The partnership focuses on urbanization, water scarcity, climate change, emissions, internet connectivity, vocational training and the development of capital markets.


The Five Year Plan aims enhance ongoing investment reforms and improve infrastructure in critical sectors like as energy, transportation, urban services and water.

ADB will also partner with India to anchor transactions that can tap national, regional and international capital markets, which can help to shift savings into infrastructure development.
