Nabard institute in Mangaluru to get captive solar plant.

The campus of Bankers' Institute of Rural Development (BIRD) in Mangaluru will meet most of its energy requirements from solar energy in the coming months. BIRD is a training institute of Nabard.

K Lakshminarayanan, Joint Director of BIRD-Mangaluru, told media persons here the institute has decided to go solar this fiscal to meet its energy requirements. A 90 kw solar power plant will be established in the campus in four-five months, he added. The proposed plant will help meet around 75 per cent of the net energy demand of the campus, which currently pays around Rs. 1.5 lakh a month as power bill.
