GAIL places Rs. 440-cr order for pipeline to Urja Ganga.

GAIL (India) Ltd. has placed an order worth Rs. 440 crore for laying 350-km pipeline from Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh to Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh. A company statement said this is part of the spurline of 665 km from Vijaipur to Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh to the existing upgradation pipeline system.

The pipeline laying contracts for the 315-km stretch from Auraiya to Phulpur was awarded in November 2016.

The Vijaipur to Phulpur pipeline will provide the gas feed to the ongoing 2,655-km-long Jagdispur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra pipeline (JHBDPL) project of GAIL, also known as the ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’ project.

Project contracts

Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL (India) BC Tripathi said, “GAIL has awarded contracts of Rs. 5400 crore in the current fiscal year which includes Rs. 3500 crore for procurement of pipeline and Rs. 1900 crore for laying of pipes.”

“GAIL has awarded contracts worth Rs. 7,500 crore till date for ongoing pipeline projects of around 4,000 km in South and East India. The two major ongoing projects – Kochi-Kodanad-Mangaluru project in Kerala and Karnataka and the Urja Ganga project – are progressing well,” he added.

Tripathi also said that all of GAIL’s group companies have made detailed plans for expansion of City Gas Distribution infrastructure in coming years.

“The boards of respective companies have approved capital expenditure of Rs. 3,500 crore for FY2018-19. The outlay will be increased after Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board’s IX & X bidding round for 142 new cities,” he added.
