IIM-T to get additonal buildings under phase-II.
The phase-II construction works for additional buildings at the Indian Institute of Management-T campus will be carried out at an estimate of ₹332 crore, according to its Director Bhimaraya Metri.
Speaking at the institute’s 7th Foundation Day celebrations here on Thursday, he said construction of more than 74,000 sq. meters of the campus had already been completed under phase-I. The institute, which was functioning at NIT-T campus since its inception, shifted to the new state-of-the-art campus from this academic year. The remaining works under phase-I would be completed by March.
Under phase-II, Mr. Metri said another 68,000 sq. mt of construction work would be carried out at the campus. A total of ₹332 crore would be spent for constructing various infrastructural components. Works would be started once the receipt of final approval was received from the Central government. A few more hostel buildings and construction of the Management Development Centre were among the phase-II plans.
Stressing on the importance of ethics and values, Jalaj Dani, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM-T, said the values practised by students would outline the individuals. Hence, students should be responsible enough to carry forward the values they learnt to take the institute to greater heights.
Ganesh Ramamoorthy, Managing Vice-President of Gartner (India), said information technology and digitalisation had made a great impact on people’s understanding and mindset. The concept of change management should not be seen as a threat to employees but as an opportunity to enhance their individual capabilities and skills.
Venkat Viswanathan, founder and chairman, LatentView Analytics, said markets, teams and execution were the three guiding principles of successful entrepreneurship.
V. Gopal, Dean, Accounts and Administration, Sirish Gouda, Professor and others spoke.
A team, comprising final year students Bala Koteshwar Kolluri, Reshma Rayadurgam, Cherishma Duggina, Harish M S, Rohit Sribhashyam, Deekshitha Reddy Gagireddy, was awarded a certificate of appreciation for their project titled “Self-Empowerment to Rural Women via Food Product Business.” The project was done as part of the ‘Make a Difference project.’
