Vikram Solar scales up manufacturing capacity to 1GW.

Solar power solutions provider Vikram Solar has announced it has achieved 1 GW (1000 MW) of manufacturing capacity and outlined its vision to take it up to 2 GW by 2020.

The company, which provides end-to-end solar photovoltaic solutions, sees this as a major contributor towards the 100 GW target set by the Government by 2022.

With a capacity of 1 GW, Vikram Solar believes it is well equipped to cater not only to the Indian needs but contribute to the international solar industry.

Gyanesh Chaudhary, MD & CEO, Vikram Solar in a statement said, “For the past decade we have been toiling away, shaping the solar landscape in the country with our high efficiency modules made in India. Today we pride ourselves in being an Indian company to have fortified manufacturing capacity to 1GW.”

“In our endeavour to contribute to our make in India commitment, we aspire to expand our capacity to 2GW by FY 2020,” he further added.

Vikram Solar is driving the manufacturing backed by its R&D. During FY 2016-17, the company reported Rs. 1700 crore revenue, a significant increase compared to Rs. 900 crore in FY 2015-16.

This was a result of enhanced scale and global scope of operations. In over a decade of business, Vikram Solar business spans not just in India but across five continents.
