Sheikha Latifa reviews Dubai Design District's masterplan development.
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, has formally endorsed plans to develop and curate a dedicated Creative Community at the Dubai Design District (d3), located adjacent to Dubai's Business Bay. The announcement follows the Sheikha's official visit to view the d3 masterplan development.
The d3 Creative Community, which will cover around one million square feet within d3, will act as an incubator for emerging local designers and artists, as well as provide a natural home for art galleries and studios looking to engage directly with the region.
It is the newest of Tecom Investments' freezone business parks - with 11 buildings currently under construction.
d3's facilities will include design institutes, residential, hospitality, and retail and office spaces. The District will be characterized by distinct public areas, street furniture and shaded walkways. The development will also include a creek-side esplanade with international and boutique hotels, a pop-up shop area, an amphitheater and a convention center.
The entire project, which spans 21 million square feet, is being developed in different phases. Phase 1 is under construction, while phase 2 & 3 are being designed, according to BNC data.
