Systra wins $73.6mn Jeddah Metro design contract.

French consultancy firm Systra has won a $73.6mn (SAR276mn) contract to provide preliminary engineering designs for the Jeddah Metro project.

The company will look at all previous plans for the project and will have 20 months to develop a new design, according to local media reports.

Those present at the signing ceremony included Prince Mansour bin Miteb, minister of municipal and rural affairs, and member of the Jeddah transport higher committee; Jeddah Governor Prince Mishaal bin Majed; and Makkah Governor Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah, president of the Jeddah transport higher committee.

Prince Mishaal urged the consultancy firm to make every effort to provide the best designs for the metro in order to meet the aspirations of the country's leadership.
