Tabreed signs UAE military deal worth $1.6bn.

Tabreed, the Abu Dhabi-based district cooling company, has announced the renewal of a master services agreement to serve the UAE's Armed Forces worth an estimated $1.6bn (AED6bn).

The company said the new deal builds on an earlier agreement signed in 2000 and would cover district cooling supplies for the next 20 years. The two parties are also in talks about new projects.

A spokesperson for the UAEAF said: 'We are pleased to extend our agreement with Tabreed, who have been a strategic partner to the UAE Armed Forces for more than a decade.

'We are excited to continue working with Tabreed to acquire reliable and energy-efficient district cooling services to support our commitment to greater sustainability, enabling us to make significant reductions in our energy consumption and thereby lower our carbon footprint.”

Tabreed CEO Jasim Husain Thabet said: 'It is a source of great pride for us to renew our longstanding partnership with the UAE armed forces - a key supporter of Tabreed since its inception 15 years ago.'
