Indo-US tie up to upgrade Army T72 tanks

Mumbai: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and US-based Raytheon Company will team up for upgrading the Indian Army's T72 tanks.

Under the proposal, L&T will provide fire control system, sensors, and will accomplish the final integration along with the customer support. It is the only Indian company in the private sector that offers its expertise in tank upgradation programme.

Raytheon will provide infrared imaging sights and electronics for improving target accuracy and increase overall system lethality on the battlefield for T72 tank battalions. Raytheon has provided 20,000 thermal sights in more than 15 countries.

Both firms are also exploring other opportunities for offering net-centric modernisation of defense solutions in India and globally.
