SBQ Steels to expand capacity
Hyderabad: SBQ Steels is planning to expand the steel plant capacity from 0.5 to 2 million tonnes per annum and it will also set up a 300-MW plant .
The company has sought additional land for expansion project. It will be laying a private railway line and a corridor from the port for constructing a conveyor belt.
The company is setting up an integrated steel plant in Chillakur mandal in Nellore district of the State, which was commissioned in August 2009. By end of 2010, the company will complete the project with a capacity of 0.5 mtpa of finished steel at a total cost of Rs 1,500 crore.
The plant located near Krishnapatnam port will start with low grade iron ore.
As per the proposal, the expansion project will cost about Rs 4,500 crore and the 300-MW captive power plant will involve a total investment of Rs 1,500 crore. When completed, the project will engage over 10,000 workers directly.
