|JSW Steel Ltd is planning to set up a one million tonnes per annum capacity coke oven plant and a pellet plant of four million tpa capacity at JSW Ispat Steel Ltd's (JISL) Dolvi steel complex, in order to accelerate the turnaround of the erstwhile Ispat Steel, promoted by steel tycoon L N Mittal's younger brothers.|
The coke oven and pellet projects are expected to be commissioned in two years and 21 months, respectively. The company, however, did not specify the investment outlay for both the projects.
JSW Steel Ltd has also proposed establishing an 8 lakh tpa cold-rolling facility at the Dolvi steel complex, in order to augment JISL's plans to enter downstream projects.
The project, expected to cost around Rs300 crore, is likely to be commissioned within 18 months.
JSW Ispat also plans to invest around Rs660 crore in various programmes, including expansion of lime production, laying tracks for a railway siding, setting up gas-based power plant and cold-rolling facility at Dolvi. The investment will be undertaken by Ispat and Jindal Ispat Steel Ltd.
Expansion of lime capacity will take production to around 1,800 tonnes a day against the company's requirement of 1,200 tonnes a day. This will go hand-in-hand with expansion of the company's steel-making capacity to 5 million tones a year.
